Hi, I’m Darren Richards and I’ll be covering the Kansas City Royals for the Baseball Historians network of websites.  It’s been tough being a Royals fan lately.  Three straight 100+ loss seasons and the team has lost 951 games in the last ten years.  So an “average” season for the Royals has been a bad season for just about every other team in the majors.  The last time the Royals made the playoffs was 1985 when they finally won it all and the last time the team came in even second place was way back in 1995.

People forget that the Royals were pretty damn good though.  From 1976 through 1985, the team made the playoffs in seven of those ten years.  They went to two World Series and they won one.  So along with tracking how well (or bad) the 2007 Royals are doing, I’ll also be taking a look at when things were a little bit brighter for Royals fans.  The first thing I’ll be doing it a year by year retrospective of the greatest Royal ever, George Brett.

So I hope you stop by and you can also pick up my feed, along with all of the other Baseball Historians blogs, by stopping by the Baseball Historians site.  As always, I appreciate constructive criticism so if you want to leave a comment or drop me a line, I’d love to hear from you.
