I know, it’s hard to believe that the Royals are bad at something but according to this story, the Royals have by far the worst bullpen in baseball. The column does mention how Joakim Soria has done a nice job in the closer role but that doesn’t even come close to offsetting the damage that guys like Joel Peralta and Jason Standridge have done.
The good news is, the Royals won another series, this time against the Rockies. We no longer get to play our cross state rival, at least this year, because it looks like the league wanted a rematch of last year’s World Series so the Royals drew the Rockies card. The Royals even put up ten runs in the finale.
The bad news is, the Indians come to town and they’ve been pretty hot. Winning two series in a row (and now six of eight games) is nice, but when you’re a Royals fan, you don’t expect these winning trends to continue for too long. Odalis Perez and his 5.29 ERA gets the start in the opener tomorrow.
