The Royals can’t buy a win right now. This was one of those games that should have snapped the funk, and turned the club towards greener pastures. It went 12 innings, and was forced into extra innings by an inside the park 3 Run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Very dramatic, and worthy of “the thing” that switched everything around.
Everything was going the way it has been going, with the offense silenced for the first 8 innings, getting no Runs again. Then the 9th inning. Teahen at bat, with 2 on, bottom of the inning, and he smacks a hit hard into the outfield, and into one of those places that cause problems for unsuspecting outfielders, circling third, and crossed home plate for an in-the-park home run. That tied the score at 3, and gave the Royals a much needed boost in momentum.
However, the Twins had other plans. They dug in their heels, and did not yield another run, nabbing one themselves for the win the the top of the 12th inning. Kansas City could not answer that call, and ended up losing this one, 4-3, and handing the club their 9th straight lose.
The club is still holding on to that tie for last with the Tigers, one of these 2 teams has to win sooner or later, leaving the other behind, in the cellar by themselves. Who will be the first team to actually win a game? Crazy.
