The Royals offense was shut out today, by a 9 inning pitching show, by Toronto’s Litsch. He finished the game giving up only 7 Hits, and getting 3 Strike Outs. It was a very nice pitching performance for the other team, unfortunately.
This is the sixth lose in a row for the club, and things don’t look any better on the horizon. They still have two more games left with Toronto, and then the division leader/contender Minnesota Twins come to Kaufmann Stadium. So, if nothing else, at least they will be at home. They get to see their families, and be with their children. Not everything is about baseball, I guess.
They are falling down the standings in the AL Central fast (that is what a 6-game losing streak will do), and they now tied for the basement with the Detroit Tigers, at 5.5 games out. It is not impossible for the Royals to put together a nice little run in the opposite direction, and climb right back in this thing. If they don’t change some things fast, though, that window of opportunity is slowly closing. If everything stays the way that it is, and there is no changes made, then they won’t have to worry about the top of the Division, they will be more concerned with staying out of the basement.
Their record stands at a dismal 21-28, tied for last place in the Central, and a 6-game losing streak. Yikes!
