Royals on short end of no-no in Boston

by @ 11:46 pm. Filed under 2008 Royals

The Red Sox proved why they are such a powerful force in baseball today.  Their starting pitcher, Jon Lester, took the mound, at home, and pitched Major League history, unfortunately for the Royals, they were on the other side of the history books.  Lester pitched a no hitter, walking only 2 measly batters, striking out 9, in his unhittable effort here today.

These are the type of games that you except, and move on.  It is almost like being on the losing side of a lottery.  There are going to be those days when everything comes together, a perfect catch in center field, and laser grabbed out of thin air on the hot corner, something.  You just hope that your club is not on the other end of one of those days.  The Royals, have if nothing else this year bad luck, so it shouldn’t surprise you that The Royals were the team to get off the bus in Boston to receive this welcome from the Red Sox.

You could tell something wasn’t right when Grudzielanek missed a routine catch in left, scoring two runs.  Very uncharacteristic of the star.  You just move on.

The test for this club continues tomorrow as they face Boston again, and hopefully they have put this experience behind them.  Only tomorrow will tell.
