The Royals displayed an explosion of runs today in Florida, culminated by three separate innings of explosive offensive. They jumped out fast in the first inning, tallying a couple of runs. Following that, in the 3rd inning, they scored 4 runs, capped off by a 2-run home run by Teahen. They scored 3 runs in the 7th, with Jose Guillen hitting a blast, with one on, for his 3rd and 4th RBI’s for the day. All in all, it was a very impressive day behind the plate, but the pitching did its own work today. They looked good also.
Zack Greinke went for 6 solid innings of service, and scattered 9hits, and 3 runs. He struck out 5, but did give up a dinger to Jacobs in the 4th inning. The bullpen pitched very well also, with Gobble entering in relief, and pitched two very good innings, only giving up one hit, and no runs. Yabuta finished things up pitching a flawless 9th inning. The Royals win this one 9-3.
This win takes the Royals into a tie for 3rd place in the Central, just 0.5 games behind the 2nd place, Cleveland Indians, and a measly 2.0 games behind #1 Chicago White Sox. Their record improves to 21-22, only one game shy of .500.
